Your spending, income and plans tell part of your life story. Finantzak has therefore enabled mandatory end-to-end encryption for its cloud: financial content in an account that has completed setup is encrypted on your devices, and Finantzak does not have the keys needed to read it.

A new stage in privacy for your finances
With this update, the Finantzak cloud requires you to set up end-to-end encryption. This policy is enabled generally, including for new accounts. On Android, the minimum compatible version is 1.0.28, build 40; the web client also includes this flow.
If you already had an account, updating the app does not mean setup is complete. You need to follow the process and save your recovery code. Until then, the previous financial transport is blocked and your data is preserved so you can prepare your account or use the available exit options.
Finantzak stores encrypted content it cannot read
Encryption takes place in the client before data is synchronised. For accounts that have completed the process, the cloud stores financial content and its attachments in encrypted form. The keys that open it remain under the control of your devices and your recovery process.
This changes something fundamental: holding encrypted content on the server does not let Finantzak look up your transactions, amounts or protected documents. The server does not have the keys to decrypt them. Your devices with access can open them so you can keep organising your finances.
Privacy when you choose to share
In a shared workspace, people you have granted access can view the content allowed by their permissions. That workspace uses keys separate from those of your personal workspace. Sharing information remains your choice.
This is why we describe content as accessible to you and to authorised people. Encryption does not hide a shared workspace from its members or prevent someone who can already view information from keeping a copy.
Your recovery code is part of the protection
During setup, Finantzak generates the key on your device and asks you to save the recovery code and acknowledge its importance. Keep it outside that device in a safe place, such as a password manager you can access another way. Do not publish it or send it to support.
To open your encrypted account on another compatible device, you can use the code or authorise it from a device that already has access, using the QR flow. If you lose both the code and every device holding the key, Finantzak cannot recover the encrypted content. Resetting your sign-in password does not recover that key.
What this protection means when using Toby
If you choose to use artificial intelligence features, information needed to handle your request may be sent to the relevant provider with the applicable consent and permissions. When privately reading a compatible attachment, the client decrypts the file and sends it directly to the provider for that query.
Cloud encryption does not mean information you choose to send to an AI remains unreadable to that provider. It does not mean anonymity either: the service still needs to manage your account, sessions and technical data required to operate. The protection described here applies to encrypted content, not to every item of service data without exception.
How to start using the new protection
Update Finantzak and follow the process shown when accessing the cloud. Save the code before confirming and complete your account setup. If you belong to shared workspaces, other people may also need to prepare their accounts before you can continue.
The change is already enabled, but we are not claiming that every existing account has finished migrating. End-to-end protection applies to your content when your account completes the process. The aim is clear: to let you organise your money without giving Finantzak the keys to read your financial life.
Put it into practice
- Update Android to 1.0.28 (40) or a later compatible version, or use the updated web client.
- Keep your recovery code outside the device and complete setup.
- Authorise only trusted devices and workspace members.
- Review the information you choose to share when using Toby.
