Looking only at the latest month can make an insurance payment or a one-off purchase distort your view of spending. This guide explains how to use the three-month analysis in Finantzak’s web app, check its data and choose a specific adjustment. The review depends on recorded transactions: it does not replace checking statements or predict future savings.
In this article
1. Choose the period and check what it includes
In the web app, open Analysis and select 3 months. The view combines the current month and the previous two; it is not necessarily a complete calendar quarter. If the current month is still underway, its figures are partial. Note the review date and avoid comparing that month directly with a completed one.
Before interpreting the charts, check that income and expenses are recorded for the accounts you manage. Compare dates and amounts with receipts or statements, and correct duplicate or misclassified transactions. If an account or payment is missing, Finantzak’s totals will not represent your whole financial situation.
2. Find what explains the spending
Check the period’s expense breakdown by category. Start with a category showing a large amount and review the transactions behind it. Distinguish a one-off payment, such as insurance, from a recurring expense. A large total does not automatically mean unnecessary spending: it may cover an essential need or several months.
Also check transfers between your own accounts. Moving money from your current account to your savings account creates neither income nor an expense. Record it as a transfer where appropriate, without adding another income or expense entry for the same move. This check reduces duplication; it does not guarantee that the remaining data is complete.
3. Check the calculation with a fictional example
Imagine a period with €4500 in recorded income. Expenses are €2400 for housing, €900 for food, €600 for other payments and €150 for insurance: 2400 + 900 + 600 + 150 = 4050. The difference between income and expenses is 4500 − 4050 = 450 euros. These are hypothetical amounts, not results from Finantzak users.
If you moved €300 between two of your own accounts during that period, the transfer would not change the €450 difference. Nor does that mean you have €450 available to spend: opening balances, pending payments and unrecorded transactions still matter. Use the calculation to check the period’s data, not as a promise of future savings.
4. Choose a change and how to check it
Choose an action you can verify, such as reviewing a subscription before its next renewal. First check the provider’s conditions; changing a record in Finantzak does not cancel a contract or stop a charge. If you adjust a category budget, base the amount on actual income and spending, without automatically cutting essential needs.
Write down what you intend to change and a review date. At the next check, find the relevant transaction and compare the expected amount with the actual charge. When comparing periods, use equivalent completed months and account for exceptional payments. A useful review produces a decision supported by data, even when it does not lead to lower spending.
Put it into practice
- Open Analysis → 3 months in the web app and note the months included.
- Check transactions and categories; distinguish transfers between your own accounts.
- Check income minus expenses and identify any missing payments.
- Choose one specific action and check its outcome on an agreed date.
